West Virginia, WV

Introduction | Attractions and Activities | Travel Basics

HIGHLIGHTS
Activities:
West Virginia winters can be quite cruel, so when the weather is nice, West Virginians head outdoors. Hiking, camping and white water rafting are good from spring until fall. Snow runoff from the mountains and summer thundershowers keep water levels up. Biking is especially popular here, as are railroads. Autumn is best for touring.

The ski season usually runs from November through February. Most attractions are open year-round, but unless your interest is in winter sports, another season would be best for visiting.
